What is the difference between FFP and SFP?
The key difference lies in how the reticle behaves when you change magnification:
- First Focal Plane (FFP): The reticle grows or shrinks in size as you zoom in or out. This means the subtensions (mil-dot or MOA markings) remain accurate at every magnification level, making FFP scopes ideal for long-range shooting and rapid holdovers.
- Second Focal Plane (SFP): The reticle stays the same size regardless of the magnification level. The reticle markings are only accurate at one specific magnification (usually the highest setting). SFP scopes are generally preferred for hunting or close-to-medium range target shooting due to their clean, consistently visible reticle.
When should I choose a rifle scope versus a red dot sight?
The choice between a rifle scope and a red dot sight depends entirely on your target distance, shooting environment, and personal shooting style:
- Choose a Rifle Scope if:
- Long-Range & Precision: You are shooting at medium-to-long distances (typically past 50–100 yards) where magnifying your target is essential.
- Hunting & Target Competition: You need to pinpoint small target areas (like varmints or bullseyes) and require a reticle with MOA/MRAD markings to hold over for bullet drop and windage.
- Low-Light Conditions: You often shoot at dawn or dusk, where a larger objective lens is needed to gather maximum ambient light.
- Choose a Red Dot Sight if:
- Close Range & Speed: You primarily shoot at short-to-medium distances (under 50–100 yards) and prioritize ultra-fast target acquisition over magnification.
- Tactical & Home Defense: You want an unlimited field of view and prefer shooting with both eyes open to maintain maximum situational awareness.
- Lightweight Profile: You want to keep your setup as light, compact, and nimble as possible.

What do "MOA" and "MRAD" mean, and how do I properly zero my scope?
MOA (Minute of Angle) and MRAD (Milliradian, or Mil) are two different angular units used to measure bullet drop and windage adjustments:
- MOA: Most popular among North American shooters. 1 MOA equals roughly 1 inch at 100 yards (or 1/4 inch at 25 yards for a standard 1/4 MOA click-adjustment scope).
- MRAD / Mil: The global tactical standard. 1 MRAD equals exactly 10 cm at 100 meters (or roughly 3.6 inches at 100 yards). A standard 0.1 MRAD click moves your impact 1 cm at 100 meters.
Rule of thumb: Choose MOA if you prefer thinking in inches and yards; choose MRAD if you prefer metric calculations or cross-platform tactical coordination.
How to Zero Your Optic:
- Securely mount your rifle scope or red dot and set up a target at your target zero distance (e.g., 25 yards for red dots, 100 yards for scopes).
- Fire a steady 3-shot group while aiming exactly at the bullseye.
- Observe where the group hits relative to your crosshairs. Adjust the Elevation turret (Top) to shift the impact Up/Down, and the Windage turret (Right) to shift it Left/Right. Follow the directional arrows (e.g., "UP" or "R") marked on your turrets.
- Fire another group to confirm, and fine-tune until your point of aim perfectly matches the point of impact.

Will Pinty scopes or red dots fit my rifle out of the box? (Picatinny vs. Dovetail)
Most Pinty optics come ready to mount out of the box, but you just need to confirm which rail system your rifle features:
- Picatinny / Weaver Rails (20mm-22mm): This is the tactical industry standard. The vast majority of Pinty scopes and red dots come equipped with Picatinny-compatible mounts or bases included in the box, allowing you to clamp them onto your rail immediately.
- Dovetail Rails (11mm): Commonly found on traditional rimfire rifles and certain airgun platforms. Our Timber and Vanguard series use dovetail rails system.

Why does the reticle or red dot look blurry, distorted, or like a "starburst" to my eye?
If the glass is clean but the reticle looks distorted, it is usually due to one of two common optical or physiological factors:
- Diopter Adjustment (For Scopes): You need to adjust the ocular focus eyepiece (the ring closest to your eye) to match your specific vision. Look at a blank wall and turn the eyepiece until the reticle crosshairs appear perfectly crisp and sharp.
- Astigmatism (For Red Dots): If a red dot looks like an irregular blob, a starburst, or a comma instead of a perfect circle, you may have astigmatism (a common eye condition). To test this, take a photo of the red dot with your smartphone camera. If the dot looks perfectly round in the photo but blurry to your eye, it is an optical illusion caused by your vision. Lowering the brightness level can help significantly reduce this effect.

I bought two of these for new builds. Very easy install and a great look for the price. Only shooting.223/5.56 so nothing wicked. It is heavy but worth the ACOG and laser attachments.
Bought this, Greta scope, good optical, bad laser. I put on a 350 Ledgend AR 15. Scope was easy to zero at 200 yds and holds true. The laser is my only complaint, I can not for the life of me get it to zero to the crosshairs at any distance (mounted on the rifle or scope).

Everything worked perfectly right out of the box. Installation was a snap. On my AR15 with 5.56 ammo I sighted the reflex and laser at 25 yds., the scope at 100. It's as accurate as I am. I was able to 4" group 10 rounds at 100 yards. I can't shoot any better than that, no matter what I'm shooting. Anyway, center mass at 100 yds? No problem. I don't know how they sell so much for so cheap!

I have to you this scope combo is a diamond you buy with this price. none of the scopes you see in stores can't compare with this even with double or triple the price of this. 25 meter target zeroing you see in the beginning the shots that are all over the place are without the zeroing. Started at 7 yards, was way off then I did 15 yards and most of the bullseye shots are from 15 yards within 30 seconds of zeroing. After that 25 yards I tries hitting the rear sights on the target as you see with black circles around them. All of them are less than an inch to the target. That is considering my hands were shaky a little bit.
Overall I'm pretty satisfied with this scope. And it held itself steady after 100 rounds.

I purchased this Pinty rifle scope for my daughters AR15 for plinking. We found it to be fairly accurate and durable. The scope itself has 3 Picatinny rails around its body and it also comes with a reflex sight and green dot laser. The adjustable green/red reflex reticle helps improve target acquisition either in dark or bright settings. The reflex sight is very reliable when in situations where the target is close, due to the very wide and clear view, you will be able to accurately hit moving targets. This may be convenient when trying to hit targets with speed. The strong laser sight is bright enough to be seen from afar. It is also visible during the day/night and in most weather conditions. The Pinty Rifle Scope is made of sturdy aluminum so the scope is lightweight making transportation/traveling much easier. I strongly recommend using this scope for rifles as it provides many advantages. The package and scope came with everything and in good quality.
Overall, I like the scope. It's a little larger than I expected. I sighted it in and it was very accurate shooting at 50 yards. The scope seems to be pretty well made. The red dot is ok. With the included riser it sits a little high. I ended up using a different riser to get the desired length. The laser pointer is cool but I may just use it to mess with my cat instead of mounting it.
Well packaged! Very happy with construction including materials. Easy to build and looks great. I rated this five (5) stars despite receiving six (6) out seven (7) corroded batteries. Battery replacement erases this item as a value purchase.
Ordered this thinking that it was a little too good to be true considering the low price. But to my surprise everything is of very good quality and all the lasers work with zero issues. Instructions could be just a bit more clear but they are easy enough to follow..might just take a few times of reading through to get what the info you need. Installing the riser along with the scope/lasers was quick and painless. Only took about 30 minutes and I have never put a scope on a gun before. Took this out to test after install and did not even have to adjust the scope one time. I mean really not a single adjustment was made and it was shooting dead on at 100 yards.
I recommend this for anyone that wants to upgrade their optics or get into optics. The laser is super bright green and easy to adjust(though it started to wander a bit after firing 150 rounds; I just had to readjust it so we will see how it holds up). The red and green in the scope lights are a welcome addition for cloudy days but in the sun they aren't able to be seen much if at all. Overall very impressed with this setup and would definitely buy again. Kudos for including the Allen wrenches for all the easy installs.

There is so many options with the light on the sights. It came practically sighted. Only took 5 minutes and I was hitting my target dead center at 50 and 100 yards with pinpoint accuracy.

I've been a fan of Pinty products for a number of years. My "go to first" for all things optic. The new 3 in 1 range finder setup is perfect for my uses. Once everything is zeroed and aligned correctly with everything else, you can confidently switch from the reflex sight to the zoomed out scope view and see your laser dot sitting out there, smack in the middle of the scope reticle. I'll definitely have another Pinty product on my next build.
I'm pretty new to optics and admittedly very ignorant. Always been an iron sights guy. That said, I've got a $350 Vortex scope on another rifle, and can't really tell much of a difference between it and this pinty scope. The scope, reflex sight and laser all seem to hold zero after several shots. Only issue is the laser. Setting it is very touchy and not easy to zero. The backing on the battery compartment works its way lose while shooting. You have to really wrench it down. Thinking about replacing it with a laser/light combo. All in all, good optics combo for the money. Especially for your average recreational shooter. Might wanna upgrade if your looking to do mercinary or assassin work...
